the alpine diner

On our way home from Hotham, a gnarly snow dude suggested we swing by the Alpine Diner for “tea” (i.e. dinner) as they say here in Victoria.

I don’t usually write about eateries, but everything about the Alpine Diner was just retardedly cute. Chuck Berry was playing, the staff were lovely, even the font on the blackboard was perfect.

I wasn’t especially hungry, but for the sake of not bugging my travel buddies later with demands for a HJ’s vege burger, I went ahead and ordered a vege wrap. Please note, I don’t like wraps but they were all out of burger buns.

Turns out my wrap was so delicious I didn’t have time to photograph it. It had carrot, beetroot, daikon, cheese and salsa. Here’s the owner Knoxy clearing away the aftermath. He then proceeded to be rad and give us free chips with home made ketchup. He’s also good for a chat about all things snowboarding/skiing.
If you ever find yourself in Harrietville, I highly recommend you swing by.
